LuxDefence Asbl Launches: A Strategic Step for Europe’s Security in the National Defence Industry

The official launch of LuxDefence on 24 November 2025 marks a defining moment for Luxembourg’s industrial and geopolitical positioning in the European and transatlantic defence landscape.

Bringing together more than 80 companies, this new association aims to strengthen Luxembourg’s defence-industrial capabilities in support of the EU and NATO—an ambition backed by EUR 1.2 billion of public investment foreseen in the 2026 budget.

LuxDefence follows the recommendations of the Lux4Defence Strategic Report, which identified the creation of such an organisation as a key requirement to structure and empower the national defence ecosystem. The association positions itself as a long-term commitment to security, innovation and European sovereignty, ensuring Luxembourg plays a meaningful role both at home and among its allies.

Luxembourg enters this new chapter with solid foundations: a world-class space and satellite sector, strong manufacturing capabilities, advanced cybersecurity infrastructure, a central logistics position, a leading financial center and a robust academic and research network.

LuxDefence aims to connect these strengths and turn them into tangible industrial capacities.

The association’s mission is structured around three pillars:

  1. Representing and unifying the defence industry, ensuring a single voice in Luxembourg, Brussels, NATO and the European Defence Agency—where LuxDefence already holds coordination responsibilities.
  2. Stimulating innovation and supporting strategic projects, helping members participate in major European collaborative programs.
  3. Building a sustainable, competitive defence-industrial base, enabling Luxembourg to add value and scale within the broader European ecosystem.

The rapid growth of LuxDefence’s community—expanding to over 80 companies within months—has already drawn international attention. Hosted by the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce, the association sits at the crossroads of policy, industry and innovation, positioning the country as a proactive contributor to European and allied defence efforts.
